Birch is a native American tree with a strong wintergreen taste, containing high concentrations of methyl salicylate, which is converted in the body to salicin, the compound from which aspirin was originally derived. Birch along with sassafras are two of the original herbs used in the classic root beer tonic hailed as a cure-all & panacea during the early history of the colonized Americas.
Catuaba is the premier mood-enhancing & aphrodisiac herb of the Amazon, enhancing one’s sexual drive and desire, greatly improving blood flow through a potent vasodilatory action, and both increase energy levels while producing a calming effect. Catuaba functions as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and stimulates the flow of serotonin and acetylcholine in the brain, producing effects such as improvement in memory, motivation, mood, concentration, and sociability.
GABA oolong tea is a unique type of tea, that has undergone oxygen-free partial fermentation while replacing all oxygen with nitrogen to ensure the conversion of tea leaves’ high glutamic acid content into GABA. GABA oolong tea is high in antioxidants, ECGC, l-theanine, GABA, and caffeine.
Guayusa is without a doubt the tea of the Amazon, providing a dualistic stimulating & calming effect thanks to the synergy of its high concentration of l-theanine and slow-release caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline. Guayusa enhances alertness, memory, stamina, and endurance, earning its traditional name, ‘The Night Watchman’. Guayusa contains a wide spectrum of polyphenols and flavonoids, offering almost 2x the anti-oxidant value of Green tea and also has been used by Ayahuasca shamans and lucid dreaming enthusiasts for its unique ability to improve the retention of dreams and dreamlike states.
Juniper berries are another Native American treasure, hailing from the Pine family of trees, they have long been used as a flavoring additive and are the original spice used to flavor Gin. Juniper berries have a stimulating effect on the kidneys and encourage the cleansing of toxins. The taste can be described as something between rosemary and citrus, with a hint of lime.
Lemongrass is a sweet-tasting herb with a strong citrus-like character that possesses potent muscle-relaxing, anti-inflammatory effects mediated by the CB2 cannabinoid receptor.
Lemon peel is a much stronger tonic than Orange peel, with a much stronger citrus taste to evidence such. Lemon peel is more stimulating & mind-manifesting than its Orange counterpart.
Muira puama is a powerful nootropic herb and stimulant with aphrodisiac and adaptogenic qualities. Muira puama enhances energy and motivation via beta-adrenergic and D1 dopamine receptors while improving memory and focus through acetylcholinesterase inhibition. Muira puama is a potent neuroprotective and neuroregenerative agent, a potent circulatory stimulant, contains a wide variety of essential oils with potent anti-oxidant qualities, & increases overall sensitivity to all stimuli, including one’s dreams.
Orange peel is the common tonic of the east with a mildly sweet and citrus taste, containing a very impressive amount of readily absorbed polyphenol anti-oxidants and eliciting a mild state of relaxation and peace.
Peppermint is very similar to its cousin spearmint, but has a stronger therapeutic action, functioning as an antispasmodic and relaxing mood lifter.
Rhodiola rosea is a one-of-a-kind adaptogen increasing Serotonin, Dopamine, Adrenaline, Acetylcholine, and Endorphin levels by inhibition of MAO-A, MAO-B, COMT, and ACHE-type enzymes. Rhodiola is one of the most pronounced mood-elevating herbs on the planet.
Sassafras albidum is the key to this formulation, reducing stress, and anxiety, and elevating pro-social behaviors. Sassafras is believed to stimulate the release of Oxytocin, AKA the ‘cuddle hormone’ while providing the body with endorphin-enhancing dopamine metabolites in the isoquinoline class. These compounds are found in other plants with pronounced analgesic activity, namely Corydalis yanhusuo and Papaver somniferum.
Sarsaparilla is a delicious herbal tonic most known for its use as the main ingredient for the drink of the same name: Sarsaparilla. The root has been traditionally used for venereal disease, to increase appetite, as a diuretic, and as a general health tonic or panacea. Sarsaparilla supports healthy hormone production and cleanses the blood, kidneys, and liver.
Spearmint is a delicious wintergreen-flavored spice that provides a cooling anti-inflammatory and antidepressant effect that is a much-welcomed addition to the spicy & stimulating natures of cinnamon and ginger.
Stevia is a very important herb in this modern-day and age, simulating the taste of sugar with zero added calories. Stevia can help one experience the full flavor profile of many herbs and spices while masking the bitter flavors that some stronger herbs possess.
Suma is a South American root with a mild vanilla-like taste that has been hailed as an adaptogen, nourishing the body with rare and essential nutrients while helping it deal with stress, all the while providing energy. It has many similarities to Ginseng and contains a vast amount of beneficial constituents, including the rare mineral Germanium.
Black pepper can dramatically increase the absorption of many nutrients and alkaloids by an incredible amount. Black pepper also enhances the thermogenesis of fats and accelerates energy metabolism in the body while increasing serotonin and beta-endorphin production in the brain.
Cinnamon is a famous sweet and spicy herb that belongs to the same family as Sassafras, ‘Laurel’. If Cinnamon and Sassafras are brothers, Cinnamon is truly the more aggressive brother, providing a stimulant and focusing nootropic effect in high doses, and stimulating adrenaline release at low doses. The contradictory brotherhood of the two becomes more evident when one discovers that large wars have been fought over the right to trade Cinnamon, while Sassafras seems to spread freely, wherever it can.
Ginger is a wonderful tonic with a spicy taste, generally used for nausea but also functions as a potent anti-inflammatory agent with powerful blood circulating effects.
Licorice root is a sweet-tasting herb with stimulating qualities, it is said to tonify all 12 meridians in the Traditional Chinese system of Medicine and is an extremely potent herbal synergist, stimulating the endocrine and adrenal glands.
